The Rap That Unpacks

VERSE 1
Dimitri Stamidis from Santorini, Greece,
Came to Australia in search of peace.
Back then Greece wasn’t a very safe place,
so he came to Australia because he thought there was no discrimination about race.
He had to leave because of the war,
because in Greece it was Turks galore.

CHORUS
He went to church everyday day,
to teach his kids the proper Greek way.
He had big plans for the future,
but for now he took everyday as a new adventure.

VERSE 2
He came via the Ellinis ship,
and because of the war he had an injured hip.
All he wanted to do was be a Greek restaurant owner,
but because of the foreign food people laughed and made him feel like a loner.
With no education there was nothing else he could do,
he had no house so he went to live with his friend sue.

CHORUS
He went to church everyday day,
to teach his kids the proper Greek way.
He had big plans for the future,
but for now he took everyday as a new adventure.

VERSE 3
Learning the English language was a struggle for Dimitri,
but keeping his Greek heritage was a guarantee.
A year later he married a lady named Kitty,
they had 3 kids and lived in the city.
He applied for a dual citizenship,
which meant he wasn’t in Australia just for a trip.

CHORUS
He went to church everyday day,
to teach his kids the proper Greek way.
He had big plans for the future,
but for now he took everyday as a new adventure.

Stories To Eat With A Blood Plum- Jackie French

So far I have read 4 out of 5 chapters and all of them have been totally different stories. The first one was about Pru and Bruce getting locked in an Egyptian pyramid and being chased by a mummy. The second story is about a zombie librarian who tries to kidnap Pru and feed her to her human eating books. The third story is about a werewolf who pretends to be Pru’s cousin and tries to attack her. The forth story is about the tooth fairy being a man and he captures Pru.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes short, exciting and adventurous books.

Graduation Committee Application

I am very interested in being part of the graduation committee because I think that I would be a positive member and I would have a lot to contribute to help make it the best graduation that it can be. I always participate in class meetings and come up with new ideas. I work really well independently and in a group.I will listen to what others have to say so that everyone has a chance to contribute to our graduation. I am well organised and I manage my time well. Our graduation  shouldn’t just be an okay night it should be a really special night. I think it would be really good to help make our graduation a night that is enjoyable and a night that we will never forget.

Stories To Eat With A Blood Plum- Jackie French

Stories to eat with a blood plum is a wacky, exciting and adventurous book about the adventures of  Pru her best friend Phreddy (Phaery Etheral) who is a fairy and their friend Bruce who is a frog. This book is all about the wild and strange adventures they have at school or at their castle. What ever dangerous situations they get into like getting chased by a mummy or attacked by a zombie librarian they always manage to get out of it. Even if you haven’t read the first two books Stories to Eat with a Banana and Stories to Eat with a Watermelon you will still understand what is going on.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Exciting books that aren’t to long and books that always have something going on.

Migration Museum

Today our class visited the Migration Museum in town. We left school at 9:00 and then we walked down to the bus stop. When we got into town, we walked to the Migration Museum.
When we got there we ate our recess then we were put into groups for an activity. We had to search through a person’s suitcase or box and find out who he or she was there was also some paperwork. In the end we watched a small video about how and why our person migrated. It was really interesting learning about the different reasons that people migrated for example better education, jobs and money.
The excursion was different to what I expected because we did one activity and we didn’t go into the museum.

Personal Research Projects

This term we have been asked to do a Personal Research Project (P.R.P). I have chosen to do Pele the Brazilian soccer player. I chose Pele because I think he is the greatest soccer player that ever lived and he made soccer more interesting with his tricks. Another reason why I chose Pele is because I didn’t want to choose a soccer player that a lot of people know about.

In the past I have done Peacocks, the Parthenon and Paris so this time I chose to do a person.

I think PRP’S are a good way of  learning about things you are interested in. I hope I have a successful presentation and everything goes well.

Literacy-Expanding Noun Groups

in Literacy this week we have been learning about expanding our sentences. We start off with a pointer e.g The,he,she. Then a Quantifier (number). Next you put a Qualifier (size, shape, colour) and before the noun you put the Classifier (type) e.g ADELAIDE zoo, AUSTRALIAN athlete. After the noun you write end of the sentence. You didn’t have to use all them  and you can add adjectives.

Example- The four mean, cunning, intimidating politicians used their power to convince us that the murray had dried up so that we wouldn’t use any more water.

It really helped me Write better quality sentences.

INQUIRY

This week for inquiry we have been learning how to take notes and summarise what we have seen or read. In one of the columns we had to write notes, dot points/phrases and in the other column we had to refine, reduce our dot points. One of the things we took notes from were these articles. With a partner we had to choose one article to summarise. Other things we had to take notes on was a video and another set of articles. By the end of the week I found it a lot easier to write notes.

ABSTRACT ART

My art- SpringPICTURE TAKEN BY ME

These past few days we have been working on abstract art. The point of abstract art is to make a picture that represents something else but doesn’t really look like it. Our work was based on the work of the artist Wassily Kandinsky. On Tuesday we had an art lesson. We had to create an abstract art piece made out of interconnected circles witch we made with compasses. We could choose 3-4 colours to make our art and we could choose from a black or white background. My art is called spring because it is meant to be a flower and flowers bloom in spring.
